ACP Global Ambassador reflections by: Myriam Z. Allende-Vigo, MD, MACP

The XXIX ACMI-ACP Congress “Resolving Controversies and Paradigms in Internal Medicine” was held in Cali, Colombia, November 16-18, 2023. Presiding was Dr. José Javier Arango Álvarez, ACMI President and Dr. Eugenio Matijasevic, ACP Colombia Chapter Governor.  As the ACP Global Ambassador, I was able to attend the academic events as well as the ACP Colombian Chapter Town Hall. I’m happy to report that the congress was well attended, with over 2000 registered attendees, and a scientific program of high academic quality. At the Chapter Town Hall, members were acquainted with ACP status as well as of the many offerings and opportunities for its members. Dr. Jairo Roa, past-Governor, was awarded the ACP Colombia Chapter Laureate Award, which I had the opportunity to present to him. Also, the Chair of Internal Medicine Interest Group (IMIG) presented a comprehensive report of innovative activities for the medical students. I presented a Keynote Lecture: The Road to Equity by Women at ACP. This lecture was well received and generated interest among the attendees. The meeting evidenced the collaboration between ACP Colombia Chapter and the Colombian Association of Internal Medicine (ACMI).
