ACP develops several types of evidence-based clinical policies through the Clinical Guidelines Committee and the Population Health and Medical Science Committee: clinical guidelines, guidance statements, practice points, and best practice advice.
ACP debuted a Visual Clinical Guideline this year, produced in collaboration with Annals of Internal Medicine, which summarizes the scope of each guideline (e.g., population or interventions of interest) along with ACP's clinical recommendations. The visual display includes the strength, certainty of evidence, and rationale for the guideline as well as clinical considerations and risk ratios when exploring treatment options with patients.
Moving forward, each ACP clinical guideline published in Annals of Internal Medicine will include a Visual Clinical Guideline.
