Hospitalists can improve care even without the expertise of an addiction medicine consult service.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take lives, the opioid epidemic appears to be getting worse in tandem. Earlier this year, preliminary CDC data from June 2019 through May 2020 showed the highest number of drug overdose deaths ever recorded in a 12-month period.
