PHILADELPHIA, May 13, 2021 – The American College of Physicians (ACP) announced today that it is partnering with The DEI Shift, a podcast hosted by internists that focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion in medicine. ACP members who listen to The DEI Shift podcast can claim continuing medical education (CME) credits and maintenance of certification (MOC) points for each episode by logging into ACP’s Online Learning Center. ACP’s partnership with The DEI Shift will begin as The DEI Shift begins its third season.
Promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion is a strategic priority for ACP, and partnering with The DEI Shift reflects ACP’s commitment to confronting and eliminating racism, racial disparities, discrimination, bias and inequities in health and health care. The DEI Shift discusses topics such as women in medicine, Asian Americans in medicine, inclusive health-care environments for LGBTQ patients and doctors, and underrepresented minorities in medicine. Listeners gain useful information to improve their practices and environments, to gain empathy, cultural competency, and humility, and to learn more about emerging DEI concepts.
“We are excited to partner with The DEI shift,” said George Abraham, MD, MPH, FACP, President, ACP. “Fostering discussions and deeper understanding of issues such as anti-racism in health-care education, religious diversity in health care, and how COVID has affected health-care disparities align closely with ACP’s efforts to support a just, equitable, diverse and inclusive environment.”
