Dr. Otis Webb Brawley, an ACP Master in Atlanta, Georgia, was awarded the 2019 Distinguished Service Award by the American Medical Association Board of Trustees. This award is given to medical professionals with outstanding service in the science and art of medicine, and it is the highest honor bestowed by the AMA.
Dr. Brawley works as the Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Oncology and Epidemiology at John Hopkins University Schools of Medicine and Public Health and was the former chief medical and scientific officer at the American Cancer Society where he worked to prevent cancer through research, education, and early detection.
The AMA's Board of Trustees believes that Dr. Brawley's career-long dedication to the science and art of medicine for the benefit of patients and the practice of medicine exemplifies what it means to be distinguished in the internal medicine profession.
