Letter to Governor Northam - February 2021

On the behalf of our members, this letter was sent to Gov. Ralph Northam on February 20 in support of access to the COVID-19 vaccine for primary care physicians and their staff. Secondly, we ask for coordination and collaboration between primary care physicians and community vaccinators such as retail health clinics and pharmacists. We encourage you to write to Gov. Northam if you have these same concerns. Our letter may be used as a template for your correspondence. Read the response from Governor Northam.

ACP Leadership Day on Capitol Hill

ACP’s annual national advocacy event, Leadership Day, will be held in 2025 on Monday, April 28 – Tuesday, April 29 at the Westin Washington, DC Downtown Hotel, located at 999 9th Street, NW, in Washington, DC. Please mark your calendars so you can join us!

Leadership Day enables the College to increase its presence on Capitol Hill and advocate directly with Congress in support of legislation directly impacting internal medicine physicians and their patients. ACP members will receive in-depth briefings on the College’s legislative priorities and an opportunity to meet with elected officials. To help our members prepare for Leadership Day, we have developed a frequently asked questions (FAQs) document with logistical information for the event. The FAQs can be accessed here.

Note that Leadership Day is being held earlier next year (in April) and on a Monday – Tuesday combination (not on Tuesday – Wednesday as is typical).

Register Now for Leadership Day 2025 - Deadline April 10

Online registration is now open for Leadership Day 2025. The event will include educational briefings, advocacy training, networking with ACP members from across the country, and an opportunity to meet with your members of Congress. A $99 registration fee will be charged to attendees at the time of registration, except for medical student members and resident/fellow in-training members, who will not be charged a registration fee. The deadline to register is Thursday, April 10.

Make Your Hotel Reservations - Deadline April 3

A room block has been designated for Leadership Day attendees at the Westin Washington, DC Downtown hotel in Washington, D.C., located at 999 9th Street, NW, at the discounted rate of $389 per night (there are two Westin hotels in that area so please use the address to ensure that you are at the correct Westin). Hotel reservations can be made online at: American College of Physicians Leadership Day. Please ask for the “American College of Physician’s Leadership Day” event if you are making your reservation by phone. The deadline to make hotel reservations is Thursday, April 3. If you are unable to acquire a room in our block or have questions about Leadership Day please contact ACP.
