ACP Global Newsletter

March 2025

The ACP Internal Medicine Meeting 2025 is almost here!

We look forward to reuniting with our internal medicine colleagues from around the world next month. ACP offers both in-person and virtual registration options. If you cannot join us in New Orleans, your virtual registration will provide access to over 100 hours of Scientific Program Sessions during the 3-day event, and access to all session recordings after the meeting.

The College is proud to announce the recipients of the ACP Inspirational Global Member Awards. Congratulations to Johanna Adri Kok, MD, FACP (Established Physician category) from Johannesburg, South Africa, and Fritz Verly Vernet, MD (Early Career Physician category) from Mirebalais, Haiti! This award recognizes two ACP Global Members annually, who have made distinguished achievements in internal medicine. ACP is accepting nominations through July 1, 2025, for the 2025-26 awards. More information about this and other national awards can be found here.

On April 18, 2024, ACP held its 17th annual Global Forum in Boston on “Meeting the Needs of Patients with Obesity: Policy, Prevention, and Treatment.” Panelists, attendees, and ACP leadership discussed the challenges of obesity care worldwide and discussed what professional societies, individual physicians, and governments can do to address prevention. The Forum proceedings are available in the February issue of I.M. Matters.

Be sure to read the new perspective piece, International Medical Graduates Are Integral to the Delivery of Patient Care in the United States,  that was published in Annals of Internal Medicine earlier this month and  speaks to the importance of IMGs.

In addition to information about the Internal Medicine Meeting, this month's newsletter highlights The Global Physician Scholar (GPS) Program, which begins accepting applications March 31, and a Global Perspectives interview with Dr. Mario Calvo, ACP Chile Chapter Governor.

Sincerely,
Wendy, Rivera-Craig
Manager, Global Relations
