The award winner should exemplify ACP's core values, including leadership, excellence, respect, compassion, professionalism, and responsibility.
John Tooker, MD, MBA, MACP held the position of executive vice president of ACP from 2002-2010. He served as Governor of the Maine Chapter from 2000-2004. Dr. Tooker played a pivotal role in the creation of the Maine Rural Practice Network, which forged a lasting bond between the academic medical center and the rural internists. The Main Rural Health Network continues to foster the interest of medical students and residents in rural primary care practice.
