ACP member since 1999
Heather Burton, MD, is an internist with Kaiser Permanente in Lakewood, CO. She served as chair of the educational program for the annual ACP scientific meeting from 2007 to 2012. Dr. Burton was also the first to organize the 'Doctors Dilemma' competition between the two Internal Medicine residency programs in Colorado. The event had its debut at the Broadmoor ACP meeting, but now takes place in Denver in order to allow nearly 100 members of the Exempla St. Joseph and University training programs to attend and root for their high-powered teams. She continues to devote time to the Broadmoor ACP chapter effort to engage resident trainees.
Dr. Burton says that evidence-based medicine and quality improvement are her special interests. "I believe that using the best of what medicine has to offer can improve a patient's overall quality of life."
