The American College of Physicians is seeking physician members to judge Posters at the Internal Medicine Meetings.

Next meeting is Thursday through Saturday, April 3 – 5, 2025, in New Orleans, LA.

Purpose:

Judge posters submitted by ACP Medical Students, Resident/Fellows, or Early Career Physicians in the following categories: Clinical Vignette, Basic Research, Clinical Research, High Value Care, Physician Well-being and Professional Development, and Quality Improvement/Patient Safety.

Responsibilities:

Each judge is assigned to a Grading Team, composed of two or three. Judges are asked to move from poster to poster with their team. This allows judges to conduct interviews with the poster’s presenting author at the same time. Judges benefit from hearing the author's responses to questions asked by each member of the team, while authors will benefit by having to undergo only one "interrogation" period.

Although judges will travel with a team, members are asked not to confer with fellow judges when assigning grades to posters, but rather, assign posters the grades that they, personally, believe are merited.

Qualifications:

  • Registered for the Internal Medicine Meeting or planning to register
  • ACP member in good standing
  • Strong English language verbal and written communication skills
  • To judge Posters for Medical Student or Resident/Fellow members must be at one of the following levels in their career: PGY3 resident, chief resident, subspecialty fellow, or a post-training internal medicine or subspecialty physician. (PGY3 residents should only volunteer to judge Medical Student posters on Saturday morning)
  • To judge Posters for Early Career Physicians members must be an internal medicine or subspecialist physician who is 16 or more years out of medical school

Goal:

This scholarly activity allows members to provide guidance to medical students, residents, fellows and early career physicians and help them move forward in the healthcare field.
