The American College of Physicians is seeking physician members to serve as a member of the National Abstract Review Board (ARB).

The next opportunity will be the 2024 ACP National Abstract Competitions, beginning in late Fall 2024.

Purpose:

This activity is virtual and active mid-December through late January; applications will be reviewed October 1 through November 15 each year

An Abstract is a summary of an interesting case or a research project.

An Abstract reviewer reviews abstracts, virtually, submitted by ACP Medical Students, Resident/Fellows, or Early Career Physicians in the following categories: ACP Abstract Categories

Responsibilities:

Abstracts are sent to the ARB in early December and final scoring is to be complete by late January. Each reviewer is assigned up to 30 abstracts to review and will be provided guidelines, resources, and grading criteria. Time allotted to complete scoring is five to six weeks.

Qualifications:

  • ACP member in good standing
  • Strong English language written communication skills
  • Ability to work on documents on a shared virtual drive.
  • To review Abstracts for Medical Student or Resident/Fellow members must be at one of the following levels in their career: PGY3 resident, chief resident, subspecialty fellow, or a post-training internal medicine or subspecialty physician.
  • To review Abstract for Early Career Physicians members must be an internal medicine or subspecialist physician who is 16 or more years out of medical school

Goal:

This scholarly activity allows members to support the scholarly pursuits of the next generation of internists and help them move forward in the healthcare field.
