Shakaib Rehman, MD, is physician manager for the Primary Care Division at the Ralph H. Johnson V.A. Medical Center and associate professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is also program director for the Office Practice of Primary Care course at the V. A. Medical Center. He was clinical assistant professor of internal medicine at North Dakota University from 1990 to 1999.
Education of other physicians and medical students is a passion of Dr. Rehman. He has received numerous awards for teaching including the Golden Apple Ward, the Department of Medicine Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Faculty Award. He also has a special interest in doctor patient relationships, hypertension, medical education, and racial disparities. He actively participates in the Free Clinic of Charleston as well as in numerous other community service activities.
