The Chapter Centennial Legacy Award celebrates ACP's centennial by recognizing one influential chapter member who served the chapter and made a significant impact on the chapter's viability. The award winner should exemplify ACP's core values, including leadership, excellence, respect, compassion, professionalism, and responsibility.
Donald W. Humphreys, MD, MACP is an emeritus professor, and has served the South Dakota Chapter in various roles including governor, a position that he held from 1987-1992. He was named a Master of the College (MACP) in 2003. He was awarded the South Dakota Chapter's Laureate Award in 1999. Dr. Humphreys has received teaching awards from his department, the medical school, and residency.
Dr. Humphreys regularly teaches at the medical school, and sponsors an annual poster competition for internal medicine resident. His devotion to medicine was acknowledged when he was awarded the South Dakota State Medical Association's Distinguished Service Award in 2014.
