Slide Preparation and Presentation Focus

Best Practices Video: as you prepare, please take a few minutes to review some helpful speaker tips collected in the ACP-produced video created for Board Review faculty titled: Faculty Best Practices: Internal Medicine Board Review Course.

Content Slides: the PowerPoint presentation provided to you is developed annually by a team of 16 physician educators and MKSAP editor staff. The content is matched directly from the ABIM Internal Medicine exam blueprint. It covers the essential information necessary to prepare physicians to pass the ABIM Certification, LKA, or Maintenance of Certification examination in internal medicine.

Audience

The Internal Medicine Board Review course audience consists of those taking the initial certification, Maintenance of Certification, and those interested in updates in Internal Medicine.

Bias, Content Validity, and Discussion of Unapproved Use of Products

The American College of Physicians requires that your presentation be free of commercial bias. When discussing therapeutic options, it is ACP’s preference that you use only generic names. If it is necessary to use a trade name, then those of several companies must be used. All clinical recommendations must be based on evidence that is accepted within the profession of medicine as adequate justification for their indications and contraindications in the care of patients. References to scientific research in support or justification of a patient care recommendation must conform to the generally accepted standards of experimental design, data collection, and analysis. It is your responsibility to inform the audience of any discussion of unapproved or investigative use of a commercial product or device during your presentation or in response to questions posed by the audience.

In accordance with ACCME’s Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, education must be free of marketing or sales of products or services. Faculty must not actively promote or sell products or services that serve their professional or financial interests during accredited education.
