The American College of Physicians is seeking physician members to write and review questions for the national Doctor’s Dilemma® Competition held at the annual ACP Internal Medicine Meeting.

Purpose:

Committee members play an active role in fostering resident education by developing and refining questions across 11 knowledge areas of internal medicine for the national Doctor’s Dilemma® Competition.

Responsibilities:

Question Writers
Each Question Writer is responsible for generating 14 questions over a period of 4 months. In addition to writing questions, Question Writers will be tasked with reviewing formerly utilized questions for their relevancy.

Question Reviewers
Review and polish questions developed by their teammates. Each Question Reviewer will be responsible for reviewing 28 questions over a period of 4 months.

Team Leads
Overseeing all work assigned to their team, reviewing all questions created by their team.

The committee’s work will be completed between September – December. All committee work is done virtually. Strong computers skills are essential and working knowledge of Google Spreadsheets is recommended, but not required.

Question writers, reviewers and team leaders selected for the Committee will be required to attend a mandatory webinar on Thursday, September 5th, 2024 at 3:00 pm (Eastern).

Qualifications

Question Writers and Reviewers:
• Current ACP Member
• A minimum of two years post training
• Commitment to serve two years as a question writer
• Willingness to collaborate and communicate timely and effectively with team members and leaders
• Ability to be concise in writing with strong grammar skills

Team Leads:
• Current FACP or MACP Member
• Commitment to serve two years as a team leader/question writer
• Teaching background preferred
• Detail orientated with strong communication, precise and concise writing ability, and solid grammar and mentoring skills
• Experience managing and mentoring others with positive coaching feedback
