On 4 December 2024, Annals of Internal Medicine and the American College of Physicians (ACP) assembled experts to discuss prevention and response to the growing threat of vector-borne diseases. Vidya Sundareshan, MD, MPH, the current ACP Governor for Southern Illinois and Professor and Chief of Infectious Diseases at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, moderated the program. Panelists were Roger Bedimo, MD, Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Chief of Infectious Diseases at the VA North Texas Health Care System; Davidson H. Hamer, MD, Professor of Global Health and Medicine at the Boston University Schools of Public Health and Medicine; and Lyle R. Petersen, MD, MPH, Director of the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
