ACP Honors Outstanding Contributions to Medicine in Annual Convocation Ceremony

SAN DIEGO, April 26, 2023 -- The American College of Physicians (ACP) honors outstanding contributions to medicine at its annual convocation ceremony on Thursday, April 27, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, where ACP is hosting its annual scientific conference, Internal Medicine Meeting 2023, through April 29.

ACP President Ryan D. Mire, M.D., MACP, presides over the ceremony which recognizes and applauds its new Fellows and the recipients of various honors including Mastership and national awards. It is a ceremony of tradition, transition, renewal, and celebration. Honorees include 28 awardees, 69 members elected to receive Mastership (MACP), and more than 375 new Fellows of ACP (FACP).

The distinction of Fellowship (FACP) recognizes professional accomplishments, demonstrated scholarship and superior competence in internal medicine. Throughout the year, highly distinguished Fellows are nominated for election to Mastership by ACP members and others familiar with their backgrounds. Each fall, a select group of these Fellows are chosen from among the nominees for Mastership by the ACP Awards Committee and approved by the ACP Board of Regents. Individuals elected to Mastership must demonstrate excellence and significance of his or her contributions to the science and art of medicine in areas such as research, education, health care initiatives, volunteerism, and administrative positions.

A complete listing of ACP members being recognized at this year’s Convocation ceremony is available in our digital Convocation Program.
