PHILADELPHIA Feb. 3, 2025 – The American College of Physicians (ACP) has released a new subscription-based edition of ACP MKSAP (Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program), a comprehensive learning program for internal medicine physicians and trainees, internal medicine subspecialists, and primary care physicians to update their knowledge with clinically relevant content, earn CME credit, prepare for board certification including the ABIM Certification Examination and Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment, and recognize their dedication to continual learning.
The new ACP MKSAP is a state-of-the-art learning system developed by a team of nearly 400 physician clinical editors, question writers, and peer reviewers who are active in clinical practice and expert leaders in medical education. ACP’s premier, psychometrically validated question bank is central to the program, developed using evidence-based question-writing principles to challenge clinical reasoning and reinforce learning. A concisely written syllabus with content targeting important clinical topics fully interlinks with the question bank and serves as an efficient reference tool for clinical guidance. ACP MKSAP’s new, all-digital format allows regular content updates and additions as well as extensive clinical images, tables, explanatory figures, and multimedia.
ACP MKSAP subscribers have access to program features and innovations delivered on a modern interface, including:
- Nearly 2,000 unique multiple-choice questions, mapped to the ABIM blueprint and linked to related syllabus content
- 16 evidence-based syllabus subspecialty content areas with hundreds of embedded images, tables, and algorithms
- Multiple question formats: traditional self-assessment, board-prep-focused Quick Qs, and Virtual Dx image-based questions
- Multimedia enhancements, including clinical shorts, ultrasound scans, animated whiteboards, and explainer videos
- Board-simulation features, including a time-lapsed question indicator, option strike-through, and highlighting
- 1,000+ adaptive learning digital flashcards
- Unlimited custom quizzes plus LKA and ABIM Certification Exam quiz templates
- Personalized Learning Plan to organize study goals and access extension learning resources
- IM-ITE® Feedback feature to help build a meaningful Learning Plan
- The Board Exam Topic Guide, featuring a convenient digitized ABIM blueprint linked to corresponding ACP MKSAP material
- Digitized Board Basics, with study-ready content summaries, easily searchable and perfect for supplemental board prep or LKA open-book support.
In April 2025, ACP MKSAP will integrate the CORE (Confirmation of Relevant Education)™ standardized assessment feature, allowing physician learners to enter a more rigorous ACP MKSAP assessment component, including a standardized passing threshold. ACP MKSAP learners can unlock up to 12 CORE quizzes encompassing 300 additional “hidden” multiple-choice questions. Successful CORE participants will receive a digital badge after passing individual CORE quizzes and can earn and print a shareable CORE certificate for inclusion in their professional portfolio. The new CORE feature is one way ACP is responding to requests from internal medicine physicians for new ways to recognize their dedication to continual learning and assessment and their achievements in keeping up with changes in medical knowledge.
With options to subscribe for either 1 or 3 years, learners will receive perpetually reviewed and updated, current content with new questions added annually.
“We are thrilled to offer ACP MKSAP to provide the trusted clinical information from ACP and ACP MKSAP that learners have come to expect,” said Davoren Chick, MD, Chief Learning Officer and Senior Vice President, Medical Education. “This new era of ACP MKSAP addresses feedback from the learning community who wanted more purchasing flexibility, consistently updated content, and recognition for their efforts. We will continually strive to meet the needs of all our ACP members and the internal medicine community.”
