Candidate Bios
Candidate Statement: I want to be a governor of NYACP as I bring a unique Private practice perspective. I have been involved with activities of the Queen's chapter of NYACP since 1994. As a councilor and subsequently, I have been talking about the issues facing Private Practitioners at the highest leadership levels in NYACP. I am the Chief Medical officer of a multi-specialty group in Queens. This district is fortunate to have a number of excellent academic training institutions. However, only a small number of graduates are inclined to go into primary care. ACP and NYACP provide a fantastic platform for networking for all internal medicine physicians where we share resources and solutions. The way I became a NYACP leader was by attending meetings that were meaningful. The benefits of membership should be inclusive of all and provide equal opportunities for all without any prejudice.
Medical School Education: Maulana Azad Medical College
Post-Doctoral Training:
Board Certifications: ABIM
Present Employment Position:Chief Medical Officer, Cirrus Health Services

Other Appointments/Activities: Current President, AAPIQLI (A professional organization of Indian-origin Physicians, local chapter in NY with close to 1000 members); Secretary, Medical Staff Society, North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, NY 2022-2023; Current Member, MSSNY PAC Board
Areas of Professional Interest and Expertise: Diagnosing and managing complex medical diagnoses cutting across various specialties. Especially, complex cardiovascular, diabetes and lipid-related issues. I also see a robust number of patients when they are hospitalized, keeping myself abreast of issues related to Hospital Medicine
Candidate Statement: The simple answer for me is service. I have been a member since 1998 and have participated in more ACP events than my own subspecialty of nephrology. I have learned along the way how ACP touches more lives than any other medical professional organization. I have also appreciated, through chapter events, how well ACP cultivates ideas and leadership pipelines that ensures that the ACP continues to thrive for decades to come. I have genuine interest in the success of the ACP and bring valuable leadership experiences to further enhance the mission of the ACP. I am particularly interested in some of the vexing issues of our time, such as shortage of IM primary care physicians, why categorical IM residents are choosing to be hospitalists or subspecialists rather than go into primary care, why reimbursement in primary care is so low and why some internists are not members of the ACP.
