Message from the Governor

Minnesota ACP friends,

As summer fades into fall, our household marks the transition with the close of the Minnesota State Fair, which wrapped up Labor Day weekend. This year's fair was unforgettable, featuring epic storms over the fairgrounds, followed by a breathtaking double rainbow. We also braved the Kraken at the midway, and the kids proudly brought home both first and second place ribbons for their butter carving. This morning, our neighborhood—so close to the fair—woke up to the quiet of empty streets and the familiar rumble of school buses on their first day of school.

Fall also heralds the unofficial start of our chapter's year. We are thrilled to welcome our Internal Medicine Interest Group (IMIG) students back to campus and to begin collaborating with our residents and fellows on advocacy, education, and career planning. I look forward to connecting with many of you on September 17th in Rochester at our IM Un-Tapped event, where we'll have a chance to network, and I'll share insights about ACP fellowship.

Additionally, registration for our Fall ACP meeting is now open, with the poster submission deadline approaching soon. Our Conference Planning committee has curated a fantastic program featuring updates in internal medicine, inspiring speakers, and ample opportunities to connect with peers from across the state. It's one of my favorite events, where I always leave feeling inspired and re-energized by our IM community.

I'm excited about the opportunities this season brings and the chance to reconnect with each of you. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and working together to make this year one of growth and success for all. Until then, take care, and enjoy the beautiful transition into fall.

Warm regards,

Tseganesh Selameab, MD, FACP

Governor, Minnesota ACP

Abstract Judges needed for October

Volunteer judges from around Minnesota are needed to review 4-6 abstract presentations (online presentation) and score the abstracts (online scoring) submitted from medical students, resident/fellows and international medical graduates. This annual competition regularly attracts over 100 abstract submissions. You can view and score the abstracts based on your schedule. You will receive your assigned abstracts mid-October and have a week to review/score each one and submit your online scores. The total time commitment is 1-2 hours. This volunteer opportunity with MN-ACP will provide our future internal medicine physicians with feedback that will be helpful to their careers and feature interesting clinical cases, research and quality improvement projects. Could you help us this year in mid-October with this volunteer project? Everything can be done at your home/office on your schedule. Sign up to be a volunteer abstract judge.
