GOVERNOR'S MESSAGE

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for contributing to the success of the 2024 ACP Atlantic Chapter Annual Scientific Meeting held in St. John's, NL. Thanks to the Planning Committee's hard work, dedication, and collaboration, we were able to host an event that not only advanced our understanding of Diabetes and Obesity but also fostered an engaging and productive environment for all involved.

This year we were lucky enough to have three guest speakers: Dr. Alice Cheng from Toronto, our ACP Ambassador Dr. Brian Moses from Nova Scotia, and Dr. Magnus Mcleod (virtually from New Brunswick). To all our presenters – thank you for sharing your groundbreaking insights, and ideas. Your presentations sparked valuable discussions and will undoubtedly inspire further exploration in our field. We are grateful for the time, energy, and thoughtfulness you put into your work and your presentations.

A special thank you goes to the OPED team led by Mr. Anuj Charan at MUN who contributed greatly to meticulous planning and attention to detail making this event possible. From coordinating logistics to ensuring smooth virtual and in-person experiences, your efforts were truly exceptional.

We also held our Chapter's Town Hall. Congratulations to our Treasurer Dr. David Manning who was the recipient of the 2024 Chapter Service Award! This award honors members for their continued dedication and hard work for the Chapter.

The success of this meeting would not have been possible without the collective effort of the entire team. We hope the connections made, ideas exchanged, and knowledge gained will continue to inspire and inform our future endeavors.

The phenomenal advancement in the fields of Diabetes and Obesity brings us much hope and Great Expectations for the days ahead. I end with a quote from Dr. William Osler: "It is much more important to know what sort of patient has a disease than what sort of disease a patient has."

Happy Thanksgiving and a Wonderful Holiday Season to all!
