Internal Medicine 2008 Abstract Presenters

We are honored to have three Chapter Members represent our Chapter for the Associate and Medical Student Abstract Competition to be held during Internal Medicine.

  • William G. Carlos, MD, from the St. Vincent Health Center was selected in the Researh Category for the Poster Selenium: A Novel Sepsis Biomarker?
  • Hayley R. Lewis, DO, from the St. Vincent Hospital and Health Care Center Program was selected in the Clinical Vignette Category for the Posters Hemophagocytic Syndrome In A Patient With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Acute Presentation Of Pyoderma Gangrenosum In A Young Healthy Female
  • Tifinni Romero, MD, from the Ball Memorial Hospital was selected in the Clinical Vignette Category for the Poster Endocarditis Secondary To A Nutritionally Variant Streptococcal Species

ACP Indiana Chapter Awards

Governor-elect will receive National ACP Award
Michael C. Sha, MD, FACP, our incoming Governor-elect for the ACP Indiana Chapter, will receive the Walter J. McDonald Award for Young Physicians Award at Internal Medicine 2008. This award recognizes outstanding achievement by a physician member who is within 16 years of graduating medical school and who is not an ACP Medical Student or Associate. Areas of achievement this award acknowledges include leadership, academics, mentoring and volunteerism.


Two Fellows will be awarded Masterships at IM08

Bravo to Robert D. Robinson Jr. from Zionsville and William M. Tierney from Indianapolis. Mastership in the American College of Physicians is bestowed upon select Fellows in recognition of exceedingly stellar career accomplishments and service to the College. To be considered for Mastership, the candidate must have made a notable contribution to medicine. This includes but is not limited to teaching, outstanding work in clinical medicine (research or practice), contributions to preventive medicine, improvements in the delivery health care, or contributions to medical literature.
