Indiana ACP Chapter Survey

Your Chapter leadership is soliciting your feedback and action on a number of different issues. This information will allow us to better address problems affecting clinical practice. Given the complexity of issues involved, I will follow-up with you individually if you identify a problem in any of the following areas. As always, if you have concerns in other areas, please let us know. Thank you!

Survey and Action Issues:

*Name

E-mail

*1) Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) - This is the new Indiana plan to help cover some of Indiana's population without health insurance. In general, these individuals work in jobs without health insurance benefits or do not fall into a "safety net" category (e.g. Medicaid, Medicare).

  1. Do you think you know enough about this plan?
  2. Have you signed up to be a provider in HIP? If not, why not?

*2) National Provider ID (NPI) - The deadline for implementing the NPI for providers is March 1st. There have been complaints regarding the implementation.

  1. Have you had problems with obtaining or using your NPI?

*3) Medicare PQRI - The PQRI is the current CMS initiative which is a "pay for reporting" program regarding a set of quality measures. CMS has contracted with Mathematica Policy Research to survey the reasons why physicians did not participate in PQRI.

  1. If you did not participate in PQRI, would be willing to speak with a staff member from the national ACP office regarding your decision not to participate?

*4) Leadership Day - If you are planning to attend Internal Medicine 2008 in Washington D.C., think about joining your fellow Chapter members in participating in Leadership Day. This is your opportunity to meet with your Congressional representatives so that the voice of internists (both subspecialists and generalists) can be heard! Registration is via ACP Services Web site. Please contact me if you have difficulty registering.
