The Indiana Chapter received the 2002 Evergreen Award for the following program:
Associates Newsletter
The Indiana Chapter Associates Council created the monthly Associates Newsletter to promote the professional development of Residents. The newsletter was produced, edited and distributed solely by Associates to all Associates and eligible Residents and fellows in Indiana to inform them of local chapter activities and to improve collegiality between the three Residency programs. Responsibility for soliciting and editing material belongs to the Newsletter Editor, who is a member of the Associates Council and was chosen by the Associates Council Chair. The articles focused on the needs of Associates and included meeting announcements, residency program updates, the Indiana Physician Volunteer Initiative, and advocacy. In 2001, the newsletter was also distributed to medical students at the Indiana University School of Medicine, the only medical school in Indiana. The Chapter sees the newsletter as a key component in the professional development of Associates and an important membership recruitment and retention tool.
